Nothing Butt Reviews Under the Grapefruit Tree: The CC Sabathia Story

Anyone whom knows me, know that I am a huge (no pun intended CC) documentary fan. I watch all sorts of documentaries across all platforms and I will review them for all my fans out there. I just watched this CC one on BoMax. Before we get too far, I always hated CC, as a sox fan, I really hated him, he was great in his day, I also had no idea his struggle. This doc tells the story of CC mostly as a pro and heavy (no pun intended) on late in his career and the alcoholism that he had to deal with. A giant (no pun intended) drunk for most of his career it got particularly bad right before the playoffs in 2015, this is when he realized he had a gigantic (NPI) problem and had to deal with it immediately or else he'd die. And good for him for taking those steps. I never really realized what was happening or how deep it was. It is a fascinating story and a really good doc, doesn't matter how much money you have or material things in your life anyone can struggle at anytime. The doc ends with CC being a dad and family man, sober, happy, and about half the size as he was while playing, literally. @coachroache would have loved the scene where it's CC and his kid maybe also CC having a catch after one of his baseball games, this is the stuff roachey lives for. Overall a very good doc and an important watch for anyone sports fan or not. I respect CC after watching this and seeing all that he's been through. Glad he is sober now and no longer a Yankee.
