Patriots Mock Draft

Here it is, my Patriots 7-round Mock Draft to earn some money for the Bill Belichick Foundation. My CSBS colleague Uncle Stevie will donate $20 for every correct player selected by the Patriots in the 2021 NFL Draft. Let’s go!

Round 1 (15) - Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State

First and foremost, I know Uncle Stevie is going to hate this pick but I’m rolling with it. I think the Patriots like Justin Fields and if he falls to 15 there’s a good chance they take him. Honestly they might need to trade up to get him but I don’t do trades in my mock drafts so they Patriots are taking at 15. I think he checks all the boxes for what you look for in a young QB.

Round 2 (46) - Christian Barmore, DT, Alabama

I had the Patriots taking Barmore at 15 in some of my early mock drafts but his stock is slipping a little bit. I think this would be a steal for the Patriots. He would fit perfectly in their 3-4 defense either at DE or DT.

Round 3 (96) - Benjamin St-Juste, CB, Minnesota

One of the best sleeper corners in this draft. The Patriots need some more young corners with Gilmore and Jackson’s contracts up after this year. Physical outside corner with a lot of upside.

Round 4 (120) - Simi Fehoko, WR, Stanford

I really like this kid’s size. He’s a big physical receiver with good speed that makes contested catches and is a big time red zone threat. Reminds me a little bit of Chris Hogan when I watch his tape.

Round 4 (122) - Isaiah McDuffie, LB, Boston College

BC kid staying in Massachusetts. Extremely versatile Linebacker, can play inside and outside, ideally a 3-4 inside linebacker. Good intangibles and work ethic.

Round 4 (136) - Kenneth Gainwell, RB, Memphis

Tremendous receiving back. Could be next in line to become the Patriots 3rd back after James Whits hangs em up. Isn’t a bad runner either and is a sneaky good blocker. Would fit nicely into what the Patriots like to do on offense.

Round 5 (177) - Ben Cleveland, OG, Georgia

Big, nasty, physical offensive lineman. Excellent run blocker. The Patriots have always liked offensive lineman from Georgia.

Round 6 (188) - Jonathan Cooper, DE, Ohio State

Incredible leader, has great work ethic, tough, smart, desire to be great. One of my favorite players in the draft. Would fit nicely in the Patriots defense at OLB.

Round 6 (197) - Shawn Davis, S, Florida

Playmaking safety that plays back in centerfield a lot. Kind of like the Devin McCourty role. Could be the long term replacement for McCourty. Solid tackler as well.

Round 7 (242) - Robert Jones, OL, Middle Tennessee State

Versatile lineman, played tackle in college but might translate to guard in the NFL. Patriots like versatility in their offensive lineman.
