The Boston Red Sox are legit. They have 50 wins at the 81 game mark, on pace for 100 wins and maybe playing their best baseball of the season right now.
They’ve won 6 in a row, they’re 11-4 over the last 15, they just swept the Yankees. The pitching is getting hot right now, especially the bullpen. They have one of the best lineups in baseball and they have one of the best managers in the game back on the bench.
The most shocking thing to come out of the first half of the season is that I’m watching. I might not watch the entire game every night but I’m watching parts of every game and I’ve watched my fair share of full games. This team is exciting and they are good.
Scary part is they are probably going to get even better. Chris Sale is working his way back and is expected to return at some point this season, possibly very soon. If the Red Sox have any flaw it’s the starting rotation, getting Sale back might solve that problem. You also have to expect they will be buyers at the deadline. If they add another starting pitcher in addition to getting Sale back, watch out, this team might run away with this thing.
If they can keep this going and get themselves into the playoffs, you have to give them a good chance. They have playoff and big game experience all over this roster. These guys have been there before and it appears they are going to be there again this year and I’m looking forward to watching every minute of it.
